An emergency action plan, or EAP, is a workplace document that describes the actions employees are to take in the event of a fire or other emergency. It provides instructions for specific scenarios to save lives and resources. Most employers are required to have an emergency action plan for their workplace. Attendees will learn to evaluate their workplace for various emergency situations, then learn how to successfully develop and implement their own emergency action plan, assign a person in charge of emergencies, train employees, review the plan, practice drills, and update regularly.

Course Objectives:

• What is an EAP?

• Which employers are required to provide an Emergency Action Plan (EAP)?

• How do I evaluate my workplace to comply with OSHA’s emergency standards?

• How do I write my own EAP?

• Where can I get additional assistance?

• What are some of the penalties for non-compliance with EAP standards?

• Why are drills the best predictor of success in an actual emergency?

Why Should You Attend:

Drafting an emergency action plan (EAP) is not enough to ensure the safety of your employees. When an evacuation is necessary, employers need responsible, trained individuals who can supervise and coordinate activities to ensure a safe and successful evacuation. An EAP is useful only if its content is up to date and employees are sufficiently educated and trained before emergency procedures.
