The identification of safety hazards by workers and supervision, risk taking and their correction is critical to reducing injuries and improving safety performance. Studies by this presenter of injury analyses has showed that half of the causes assigned were lack of hazard awareness. About 36% were personal risk taking and about 15% were poor (or no) procedure and /or facility design. This presentation will describe useable best practices, activities or “tools” that can be used to enhance everyone’s safety awareness and hazard recognition.
